Notjustnat Exhibition: We Did it Again!

Busy, exhilarated and tiring day, but we did it again. The Notjustnat Exhibition opening was this afternoon. We have all had a busy day, but I can see on everyone's faces that they were excited and had a great day.

We have all pulled together very well. Everyone did their bit and the event went very smoothly. The weather held up long enough for us, but not long after that the sky opened up and it poured with rain. Thanks rain for holding off long enough for us to get indoors.
A nice spread brought by members of the group. The center bouquet was a gift to us from Mr Notjustnat. The irises went perfectly with the theme, blue. Thank you Mr Notjustnat!
The hall where the exhibition is taking place. You couldn't have asked for a better venue. It was spacious, plenty of light and airy. Some blogger friends came to support us. There were Jacky, Dot and Lee. Thanks ladies, your support was greatly appreciated.
Peter Mathews, one of our exhibitors and today an MC is saying a few words about the exhibition and introducing the speaker Tricia McGaughey, the President of Basket Makers of Victoria.
Tricia McGaughey did the official opening for us. Her impression of the exhibition was that it represented the way that humans traditionally made objects to support life. For example,   felting was traditionally made for keeping warm, and books for keeping information. Traditionally, miniatures represented a scale people could work with easily.
The visitors mingle some more after the official opening. I've noticed that they go back for a second or third view of the exhibits.
The highlight of my day would have been the visit from my boss, Cathrine Harboe-Ree the University Librarian. She has been a supporter of mine ever since I started working there 6 years ago. She and her husband Brian are both interested in creative art and craft. They were both there today. I was thrilled to have their support.
A collage of some of the works in the exhibition. Click on the photo to enlarge.

Not easy to take good photograph of our exhibits due to the reflection of the glass cabinets.

Now that the exhibition is well under way I can look forward and think of Christmas, phew! December is almost here. I hope everyone is looking forward to the festive season. Thanks for sharing my excitement to the end. Have a great weekend...!

  13. Nat it was a wonderful day, even that rain couldnt dampen everyones enthusiasm!

Tricia's words wonderfully described all of the amazing handwork and the stories behind it all.

I enjoyed all of the handmade books, woven baskets, quilted pieces (especially the sashiko work), the knitted tea cosies and sooooo much more!

    Looking forward to next year...

    Huge congratulations!
