Mentone beach is the closest beach for us to get to and is one of many along the edge of Port Phillip Bay. This beach is popular with local residents who use it for walking their dogs, jogging or picnics. There weren't many people that afternoon maybe because it was overcast.
Here is DH enjoying freshly baked scones and a cup of tea. recipe here .
Notice the picnics basket? It is one of my own creations. A reproduction of a tradional scallop basket. It is strong and sturdy to take on car trips.

What a lovely afternoon.. wish I could sit by the beach but unfortunately the closest one is a days drive from me.
Love the basket.. you did a great job and it does look sturdy.
Beautiful setting ... I could sit at the beach all day just taking in the beauty, the smell, the water ... so refreshing to the soul. TTFN ~Marydon

Awww - what a romantic afternoon! And I am absolutely in love with you basket -- simply lovely!!!
This looks like such a lovely time at the beach. One of the hard parts of having small kids is not getting little moments like this, to sit, drink coffee, soak in life for a few hours.
We're no where near an ocean but have lots of small rivers, streams, and man made lakes.
I do really miss mornings spent alone with coffee and my journal though.
