City Night Out

My friend Melinda and I have been working at the university library for 5 years. We were planning to celebrate our five years together and the day came last Friday. We decided to hit the big smoke after work. We called it our 'City Night Out'. Please visit Selvage Blog to read more about my neighborhood that Karen posted on her blog.

We decided to catch the train. Being Friday night the traffic would be so heavy and we were not feeling like battling it on our celebration night. The train was great because we could chat and enjoy the ride. We were planning to go and have Spanish Tapaz and Sangria at a small road side restaurant we went to once before. We didn't make any booking because there are dozens of similar restaurants in the city. We were in luck, and we found a table right away. The food and drink was delicious; I don't need to tell you that we stuffed ourselves with it. After that we took a walk through the city to enjoy the hussle and bussle of the city atmosphere.

Mel gave me this handmade collage framed with her own decorated photo frame and she wrote on it: Dearest Natima, Happy 5th year anniversary. Thank you for sharing this wonderful journey with me. You have been an equivalent of a soul mate and for that I cherish you greatly! Lotsa Love, Mel. Thanks Mel, I am really touched by it all.

Here we were waiting to catch our train. Never travel on a train without something to do. I took crochet to make Granny squares that day.

Here is Mel with her forever designer label bag to carry my present in. Mel was checking to see if her DD got picked up from kindergarten by her DH. All was well; everything was taken care of.

Friday night is always busy in the city. We managed to take a snap shot of us leaving Flinder Street Station in the centre of the city. Don't forget that it's winter here down under!

And here is Mel looking very happy at the prospect of Spanish Tapas and Sangria!!! We had a lovely night out. We hope our next 5 years will be as good as the last...!
