The Groom is born! I started workig on him about two weeks ago , but he was without a face for all that time. I managed to give him a face-lift just last weekend. I found that the face and hat were hard to position together. I think I am happy with that now. What does everyone think? Does he need a feature on his face? My sewing group thought he should have, but I am not sure. Some input here from everyone please.
Lizzie did a great job on the pattern. I particularly like his strong legs. He would need them to fight the war! I decorated my block a bit differently than what Lizzie did, but still using the motifs from the main pattern. I gave in to the temptation and got some Civil war fabrics from Autumn rose Quilting. I couldn't help myself when I saw what they have. Not having any Civil war fabric before I thought I might get just a little bit LOL! Anyway, I can use what is leftover for Dear Jane quilt.

Natima I think your groom is very strong and handsome. And I am most impressed with your other talents as well. I went to Rags to Riches. You are a lady of many creative talents :-)
I have a love and weakness for Civil War fabrics and have been collecting them to do a Bonnie Blue pattern.
Natima...your Groom looks very strong and handsome. Why don't you wait and see how he looks with the other blocks and then see if he needs a face then. I haven't seen that movie but the previews look great...another one for me to go to...Happy Wednesday dear Nat...Dzintra♥x
Natima, Your groom looks wonderful....
big and strong and handsome.
Not sure about a feature for the face, how big is the face? I think maybe yes. Hugs xxx
I think most men had beards back then because daily bathing wasn't part of the culture...
but then again if it was his wedding day......maybe he shaved for the occasion :0).
He will tell you what he needs if he doesn't "feel" finished :0)
Happy Sewing
I agree with Dzintra ~ wait till the other blocks are done and see what will look best. Lovely work!
Nat, are you paper piecing or template transferring??? ANother method... whatever it is you are doing so beautifully. I am going to start setting aside one day a week to specifically learn new task in sewing. Hugs.Tammy
Morning Nat
Just checked in at CWBQ but thought I'd say hello here as well. I agree with above see how he looks in the quilt.
I've been seriously into finishing off UFO's. 1 completed and given to GS. 1 being bound. 1 at the longarm quilters. 1 being quitled here at home By me!. 1 small one sent to SinL yesterday.
If I work on the Helen Smith rule " for every project you finish you are allowed to start 2 more" I'm well on the way to being able to start 10 new projects. WELL maybe not. sigh
Have a good day
Terry
He looks good to me Nat...
I'm not sure about a beard or anything on his face...it would cover his face up too much!
Julia ♥
I agree wait until all the blocks, or more of the blocks are completed before adding.
I can't believe you are starting Dear Jane too! I'm impressed. Hope the book exhibit is coming a long well.
Natima your groom is very handsome! Can you put a face on him that is very similar to the bride's face? That would be my only suggestion other than leaving him without any features! xo
Natima,
Your groom looks absolutely rock solid! ;) He will make the perfect husband for the bride!
Hugs
I think the bride and groom should have simular faces, maybe remove what you did for the bride, but I think she looks nice the way she is, kind of happy on her important day, so I say give the groom his features.
I loved the pattern and thanks for sending it to me.
Micki
I like him just the way he is.
cheers
Christine
