Here are my rail fence blocks I have pieced so far. I think I will need 144 blocks to make a wall quilt. I do want to hand quilt it and I don't think it is too big to do that.
A view from the top. Can you see the woven effect? Double click on the image to enlarge it so that you can see it better. I was looking at it and have to thank Kathie for helping me with the light and dark placement in order to get the woven effect.
The sea of blocks. I love photography and always take a lot of photos in as many different angles as possible. It's a lot of fun playing with the image in Photoshop Elements afterward.
This is the foursies unit using some of Ria's fabrics. This quilt will be an international friendship quilt. Terry from Terry's New Thread had joined this challenge as well. I'm not sure how far she has got with hers.
Here's what I received from Ria. Notice the cute Dutch girl and boy fabric? I will use it for the border of a mini quilt I have in mind. How cute would that be.
We are going to visit DD in Sydney this weekend. Will take some photos to share when we get back. I'm counting down until our holiday to New Zealand and Japan in 2 weeks time. I have some Japanese projects to show you in the next couple of posts. So watch this space...!

dear natima, what a beautifulrailfence quilt this will be,love your fabrics, hugs, susi
I love your blocks Nat. I didn't know there was a trick to the placement of values, I just thought if the blocks were placed in the right direction, it would just happen as long as you had different values. I learnt something.
Hey Nat how cute is that Dutch fabric...just lovely!!! What a fantastic quilt this will be...Dzintra♥x
it is looking great, so nice to see it in your fabrics, just LOVE the choices your making. It was such a fun quilt to make

Hi Nat, just back at home and saw your mail!!
I came over right away!!
I so love your Rail Fence blocks; they have such a great woven effect!!
I think I'm going to make this block again some time, using your way of working.
Is that allright by you, by the way?!
(Ofcourse I'm going to finish this one first..... ;)) ..)
Lovely to see the international effect in the block where you used the fabrics I sent you!
And what cute machines do we have, don't you think so too??
Hope you will have a wonderful weekend with your family!!
I like your scrappy rail fence quilt!
Beautiful rail fence. The woven look is very impressive.
Hi Nat!
I think that this quilt is going to be beautiful. How great it is that you are also completing it with a friend!
Enjoy your weekend away...:0)
Morning Nat
You Fence rail quilt looks great so far.
I like the woven effect. I have only ever done the block with 3 strips so you don't get the complexity of the patterns available with the 5 strips. More interesting.
Haveagoodweekend.

It looks great Nat! I'd like to do something similar, but I'm not there yet... :)
Beautiful, Natima... that Dutch fabric is just darling.
G'eve sweet Nat ~ I LOVE that quilt! Gosh, you do such beautiful work.
I have friends in Japan, you'll love it there.
Have a great day.

It looks great, and I love the woven effect you've got there. Have a wonderful weekend with your daughter.
I just visited Ria's blog and didn't put the link to you, when I read Nat. And by coincidence I am scrolling through my blog roll and see it is you. How fun is that!
Love the quilt you are working on!
Hi Nat,
Just wanted to ask you about your wool foundation....did you put the wool shapes on a cotton foundation or a batting foundation or both?
did you put the batting on the back?
I want to try it your way for my next square. thanks..
Happy Sewing
Beautful blocks, and I love your Dutch fabric! I never saw Dutch fabric before.
