Christmas Preparations

I have been busy, but I don't have much to show here. It has been very warm here down under. I prefer cooler weather. I have been  making some Christmas gifts. I know it's almost Christmas and I should have posted them off to my overseas friends by now. My friends are very forgiving and they know handmade gifts take longer to make (wink!). I have been making these mug rugs, as Madam Samm calls hers,  but because I live in Australia I will call mine Mug Mate. Hope you like it!
My first mug mate has to be in blue and white using the T block made from vintage Japanese fabric and some print leftover from my dress. I hand quilted this one because it's easier for me than machine quilting. My blue and white mug came from an Oxfam charity shop. They came in a box of 4 mugs in different patterns.
Another one in pink and chocolate brown. I first found this cute mug and I thought I had  chocolate prints fabric, but I couldn't find it anywhere, so I ended up using a scrap of brown fabric I got in my stash. It doesn't look too bad uh?
Oh yes, I did put my Christmas tree up too. You can see many heart ornaments on it. I have more of them, but they are at the exhibition until Dec. 12th. At the moment the tree looks a bit bare. How is everyone's Christmas preparation going? I still can't get used to having Christmas in the sumer even though I have been here 8 years this time and 5 years the time before that. I must say my Christmas dream is white Christmas, and I have only had that   once! So if you are covered in snow at Christmas just think that Nat would love to be there with you  hehe!

You are very welcome to have some of our snow Nat, and we could do with some warmth, it's minus 4 here today although the sun is shining so it looks good outside. Love the mug mates! I haven't got all my decorations up yet, just the nativity scene and the door wreath. I'll tackle the tree at the weekend :) Yours look great. We had an NZ Christmas in 2007, very strange in the sunshine and warm as you say but the organist in church on Christmas morning did play "In the bleak midwinter" which made me more comfortable!

I think Mug Mate is a nice name for these cuties. I wish I was on your gift list because I would have loved to get the pink and brown one, and the mug too. Have too pull out my pink and brown fabrics I think, and go shoping for a nice mug to match.
Have a Merry Christmas!
