CWQ Block 9 & 10

A devastating earthquake hit Japan last weekend. The images on the news were hard to bear. To think that it was only a couple of weeks ago that it happened in Christchurch, NZ. Do you feel that there are disasters happening too often lately! Let's send them positive energy to help find more survivors.

On a brighter note I have been keeping up with CWQ blocks, but it's quite a challenge lately. A week comes  faster than you think. I like to try to get it done at the same weekend the new pattern comes out on Saturday evening. The best part of making these blocks for me is deciding where on the block to use my 'F' fabric (the red one)

(Block 9 Birds in the air)

I always like Birds in the air block. I made a scraps quilt using this pattern once and still feel sentimental about the block. I'm happy I can use my 'F' fabric for the main corner.

(Block 10 Linclon's Platform)

This is really a churn dash block with one extra colour for the center. What makes all these blocks so special is the story behind them. To read the history of each block visit CWQ blog.

I hope you are keeping well. I haven't been visiting many blogs lately. Life seems to be running away with me this year!

Nat, lovely blocks, lovely fabrics. Yes, seems like the days are speeding up, I feel there's not enough hours in a day. :) Oh, my heart goes out to all the Japanese people! I saw a beautiful quilt in all the debrises (?) this morning on TV, couldn't help it but cry.....

It's good to have something positive to do on a regular basis, and your blocks are very bright.
The news from Japan gets worse with every update, it's horrifying to watch.

I can barely watch the news. So many prayers are being sent in behalf of Japan.
Your Civil War blocks are coming along nicely. I keep thinking of how healing quilting can be.

Nat, love the blocks. I am keeping them in a file, so when I have a bit of time, I can start on them. Do love the information and the stories. I do really like the red fabric, my favorite color and just perfect for this quilt. Great job, there girl.

Hugs,
Bobbie

Your blocks look fabulous! I really love your fabric choices. Like you, I am trying to keep updated on mine too as I think a few weeks lag could get me in serious trouble!!!

The story in Japan is so tragic. They have many prayers headed their way right now and it is nice to see people helping in so many ways.

Nat, I just love seeing your CWQ squares coming along -- what a fun project and you can actually keep up and everything. I like "birds in the air" too and may just do that one square, for the peace of it all, you know? Maybe then it'll radiate out from this one little house in Colorado and connect with a house in Australia and one in Germany and on and on until we have a whole grid of peaceful stitchers! Get carried away sometimes. xoxo

The Civil War Blocks are great. The F fabric is working well. The lare piece in the Birds In the Air block is lovely. I see why you like it.

I will try to catch up soon.

Like your silver dollars. It's fun using natural dies. Searching is at least half the fun.

your blocks are beautiful - i like the fabrics chosen!!! I love so much the Japanese people and feel for them, like Peggy in Colorado we should make a "prayer flag" and hang it outside - see it on CWB!
