I had a quick weekend away to help my daughter Kit moving into her art shop Mini Mart at the Rocks. Kit won a grant and it comes in a form of rent free art shop. If you know Sydney you would know that the Rocks is right by Sydney harbor bridge and up from the Sydney Opera House. We spent Saturday searching for vintage furniture to use as display stands. We found a few of them and some hangers as well. We moved in on Sunday and after three car loads it was all done. I was exhausted by the time I boarded that plane home. I'm glad it is all done for Kit because she doesn't have a car and I was lucky that my friend Myra let me use her car in those two days. Thanks My, you are an Angel!
Kit moved to Sydney after graduating from ANU in Canberra. After 4 years in Sydney I think she now feels Sydney is home for her. I'm proud of Kit. Apart from working as Craft Online Producer for Better Homes and Gardens Magazine, Kit is also very active in the Sydney craft scene. Kit hosts her own Craft Club once a month for anyone interested in joining in and creating. Kit has a blog called Candy Castle
Some of Kit's décor in her apartment. Travel is in our blood so luggage is never too far away!
This is the The Rocks Popup Project Kit won as a grant. It's a shop that she can sell her handmade crafts for 6 weeks right at the Rocks, in Sydney.
Kit's main form of transport in Sydney is her bike. She is very active with Sydney Bicycle Film Festival and was part of the committee last year.
Kit's bed with my scrap quilt that I gave her last Christmas. It goes perfectly with her princes bed!
Kit and I dropped by Bookfest at Sydney University on Saturday. It was a gorgeous day (too hot for me!), but it was fun and I came away with a few vintage craft and quilt books. And I only work in a library myself ha!
Today I have the pleasure of introducing you to a new Blog: Sheila in Sydney Sheila and her family moved to Sydney 3 months ago. Sheila is a textile artist. She found Kit through the Craft Club. They have been friends ever since. Sheila invited Kit and I to dinner at her house on Saturday. It was lovely to meet a new blogger. Please join me in welcoming Sheila to Blogland.
Not many creative projects going on here. I got out of the habit of stitching since returning from Japan. Instead I got the Japanese Textile Study Tour up and running. We are pleased to announce that we only have a few spots left on the tour. If you are thinking of joining the tour please do so soon.

I don't know what the Rocks is but it sounds awesome! Congratulations to your daughter on her new craft space. She's just as busy as her mom it sounds like. And just as confident! You're such a fine mom Nat, for going all that way to help her out.

Well I can see you certainly had plenty planned for that 'girly' weekend in Sydney.... many congratulations on winning such a golden opportunity Kitiya, 'The Rocks' such an amazing area of Sydney the best spot to be...
