I Heart You & Ziguzagu Visit

I Heart YOU...!

There are many pre-loved doilies these days. I do love them and have been collecting them since I lived in the UK in the 90s. I turned some of them into hearts by adding fabric for trimming and backing. I started off using Liberty and Christmas prints, but now I use whatever fabric I am playing with at the moment. The above hearts have indigo fabric for the backing.

A day out to Ziguzagu is always enjoyable. I can easily spend all day there and not see everything. The material girl Jacky was wrapping herself in boro cloths. More boro cloths behind her too. A new shipment had just arrived from Japan this week and I haven't seen so many boro cloths in one visit before.

More indigo cotton all over the floor. I had to leave them to the scrap bin so as not to spend too much money on indigo. After all, I was only there to get some silk for dyeing.

More kimono silk in all those baskets. Looking at them made me happy!

Plenty of accessories and buttons to choose from. I ran into an artist from indigofan getting some of these to use on handmade bags made from raw hide.

Blue and White porcelain containers just arrived from Japan. Wow, I just noticed the wooden print block (middle left) that I didn't see when I was there! You know there are so much things you cannot see them all in one visit!

Jacky, Dot and myself posing in the boro corner. Look around us, we were in heaven!

Haru was hard at work redecorating the place after the new shipment arrived. They are lovely people working there. Ziguzagu is divided into two sections. One half for Japanese textiles and the other half is for antique furniture. I got to know the guys who work in the furniture section as well. One of them told us today that he was a male stripper (he was stripping the old varnish off the furniture when he said that!).

Hope you enjoy the tour of Ziguzagu today.

Enjoy
Nat

Clever use of embroidery and indigo. Great blend of traditions.
Tempting photos you were strong to resist spending all your lunch money in one stop.

Your hearts are lovely, I like the use of old doilies.
And Ziguzago is a magnificent shop, I know that I could spend a few days in it looking at EVERYTHING (but I should go without my credit card or money!).

I've never seen such a tempting shop - like Blandina I'd have to go without money or credit cards. Your hearts are lovely. I have a raggy old pillowcase my Mom did with the same blue daisies, now I know what to do with it - someday!

I am so glad the shop is halfway around the world from me or my retirement check would just be direct deposited into my account there. Just the thought of going through a bin of indigo scraps sends my head reeling. Gorgeous store and wares. Speaking of gorgeous, you hearts are beautiful. I love the combination of one loved textiles with indigo. Beautiful post, Nat.
