I started this boro vest a couple of months ago. You can read about it here. I'm pleased to say I finished stitching the last button in the weekend. There is a lot of stitching in this vest. I can keep on stitching it forever, but I feel that enough is enough. I also would like to wear it this winter. I had a lot of fun transforming the old commercially made vest into a unique one of a kind boro vest. I'm so thrilled...
I reused the original buttons here again. Because I covered over all the button holes I had to remake them in the same positions.
The back view of the vest is not as busy as the front. A few pieces of my indigo dyed fabric, some cotton and some silk, but like a true boro all fabric was vintage.
And here is a close up shot of the vest front. Can you see the indigo moon and some stars? It was such a fun vest to create. I have already started the next vest with eco-dyed fabric. As soon as I baste it all down I will show it to you.
I had a chance to wear my vest on Sunday when we went out for morning tea. It goes perfectly with the shibori scarf...
My apologies to everyone who left comments on the last few posts. I mistakenly deleted some comments from those posts while I was adjusting the setting. It pays to leave everything to Mr Blogger to deal with!!!
Until next time

It looks fabulous, Nat, and I love it with the scarf. Your stitching looks terrific and it looks like it was a fun project to work on. I can't wait to see the next one.
Your boro vest looks great Nat and I love that all those little pieces are special and have their own stories.
fabulous!
Love this, and your stitching polishes it off quite nicely. As does the scarf. You were, no doubt, belle of the morning tea.
I love your boro vest, Nat, and it looks so nice on you with the scarf and that red top. Looking forward to your next one so that I can continue to live vicariously through you. ;) xo
Well done, Nat. Looks terrific. If only the fabric could talk, but I'm certain you could tell some stories to go with it.
A great revamp. I like the use of old new and your own fabric and traditions in in stitching.
I think you and I both enjoy the history as much as the stitching.
You look happy!
Your vest turned out beautiful! So creative. And it especially looks nice on you :)

The boro vest came out so, so great... I haven't been working on my workshirt/patching since June and this post makes me want to get 'back at it'... I really love how the fabrics you chose so happily relate to each other.
