It's Beginning to Look Like Christmas...

Yes, it's beginning to look like Christmas when you get much more busy at work, not just for work but with all those social celebrations each department puts on to share with colleagues. My department had our Christmas morning tea last week. The corporate look of Christmas trees was everywhere in the main public areas. Of course we got to decorate our little sections as well. I'm the Ms  decorations in my section so I get to decorate not only my own desk but the whole department.

It's a colourful, fun and happy time, but for some it can be hectic. I don't let the holiday season stress me. I'm blessed to live and see one more Christmas and get to enjoy it with family and friends. Most of all, my work gives us twelve days off to enjoy it! I can't complaint really can I? Today I have some work Christmas decorations to share with you.

This long garland is hanging in front of a group of desks at we enter the area. It's part of the decorations from the department's pool. You are free to use any decorations from the pool as you like. I just hang it and put only red and gold baubles on it. It looks really attractive. I like it!

Ta da, my colleague Jocelyn showing off the table full of food that everyone brought in to share on Christmas morning tea. It was yummy and colourful. We had a lovely time.

And I brought in these simple tarts made with puff pastry, fresh raspberries, raspberry jam and a drop of fresh cream. I baked it for 10 minutes on 200'c in a fan forced oven.

The first of many corporate Christmas trees went up in the main foyer. It didn't do anything to me, it looks like any Christmas tree you see at work places.

You see what I meant? Another corporate look that went up on our landing between departments. I helped putting this one up. A bit of colour to get everyone into the spirit of Christmas.

Almost corporate look, but not quite. This is the tree I put up in our area at the end of the corridor. You can see it when you enter the department. Again it's very simple and not a single handmade ornament on it. You will have to wait until next post to see my tree at home for handmade ornaments.

I always put decorations up at my desk. I'm using an old Advent calendar and decorations that friends sent me years ago. I try to put them together differently each year. They look as good as new. This year is a dragon year so I put a book mark that has all the Chinese horoscopes featuring the Dragon on it...

I had to make a trip into the city last week. While I was there I visited Myer to have a peek at the Myer's Christmas window. I wasn't disappointed. It was very cute and unique to Australia.  The Freddo frogs were a feature in every window. I love them...

There were some quilts featured there too. Imagine snow in Australia at Christmas! The poor sheep are freezing!  Thank goodness the quilts saved the day and kept them warm!

This poor sheep was complaining about the sub 0 temperture at this time of year. If you get a chance have a look at the production of it here

In the weekend I took on a big task of going through everything in my sewing room. Apart from bags of things that I took to the charity shop, I trashed bags and bags of papers and unwanted stuff . Would you believe it, I found room for the stuff I'm keeping. While going through my fabric stash I told myself not to buy any more fabric! Yes, NOT to buy any more fabric! I have enough fabric to make whatever I want to make until eternity, honestly! My life might not be as interesting from now on, but I will be content with using up what I've got. I know you don't believe me. I don't believe me either!

Sorry I got side tracked there. What I meant to tell you was, I put my Christmas decorations up at home too. I still have more to do during the week. I will share that with you in my next post. I hope everyone is excited and looking forward to Christmas. Have fun decorating your homes and share with us what you do.

Until next time
Nat

A lovely festive post Nat, it's interesting how your decorations compare with those corporate trees, they seem soulless, yours tell a story of love and friendship. Enjoy all your parties and I'm looking forward to seeing more of your home decorations.

You are right, we should be happy to be able to celebrate yet another year of Christmas! And not stress.
Love the decorations at your work and on your working desk.
I have been planning to buy no more fabrics too. Again. Not sure how often I have broken that promis. Hope it lasts longer this time.

It is definitely looking a lot like Christmas. I loved the gold garland with the red on it.

The window displays were so cute too. That poor sheep looks like he may have sampled too much eggnog.

I need to sort through my sewing area too. I have enough fabric to last me three lifetimes too. Ugh! I just need more sewing TIME!

Twelve days off for Christmas is delightful. Enjoy the time.

Ha! LOVED the making-of of the Myer's shop window !!!!! Great work and it must be so much fun to do !!!
(In Holland there is the "Bijenkorf": they always had special shop windows for "St Nicolaas" on the 5th of December !)

Hi Natima,
Looks like you are having a lot of fun at work, If you get the chance can you give more information about the tarts you made.
I was at Myers last week and the lines at the window were so long I didn't get to see any windows, now I need to go back and try again.
Are you having christmas at your home this year.

You have been busy! And I feel the same way about not buying any more new fabric. I'm really on a mission to use what I have.

Hello Nat,

Such a fun Christmas post. just loved those frogs and sheep. Yes, I am like you, not buying any more material ever!!! Why was I so easily tempted at a Garage Sale last week when the family had lengths of material for 50 cents each. There was 2 metres in each length. Of course I had to let Mum know who wasn't buying more material too. She bought more than me!!

Have a wonderful weekend.

Happy days.
